Meet Our Staff

John Rich, DDS. - Associate Dentist

Dr. John Rich has been practicing general dentistry in Santa Rosa since 1988.  He graduated from UCSF School of Dentistry in 1980.  After a short stint as a clinical instructor of Operative Dentistry at that school, he accepted a position in Switzerland, where he ran a mobile dental clinic.  His duties included all phases of general dentistry, as well as hospital, handicapped and geriatic dental care. Upon his return to California, he practiced in the Santa Cruz area for five years before relocating to Sonoma County at his current location.  He takes great pride in his family oriented practice, which emphasizes strong personal service and relationships with his loyal patients.

Dr. Rich has been married to his wife Patricia for 26 years.  She has been an elementary school teacher for 19 years in Santa Rosa.  His daughter, Stephanie, lives in San Francisco and works for Google, and his son, Thomas, attends UC Berkeley.  Dr. Rich enjoys skiing, tennis, cycling and volunteering in the many school and sport related activities of his children. You can e-mail him at: jrichdds@sbcglobal.net.

Dr. Jennifer Crandall, DDS

Dr. Crandall has been practicing general dentistry for over 28 years with an educational approach that is based in prevention.

She believes in providing her patients with all the appropriate treatment options available, while encouraging them to choose conservative dentistry that preserves and protects their remaining tooth structure.  Most importantly, she emphasizes the importance of excellent periodontal (gum) health and will personally provide periodontal care for her patients.

Dr. Crandall knew at a young age that she wanted to be a dentist and with determination and focus, earned three college degrees in three years of study. She graduated with distinction and as a Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado in boulder.

After graduating from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 1982, Dr. Crandall opened her solo practice at the age of 23.

After 18 years of being completely, and enjoyably, consumed with her solo practice, Dr. Crandall decided she needed a more balanced life.  She found that the best way to work less and have more personal time, yet stay plugged into the constant changes and advances in dentistry, was to be part of the great team and practice put together by Dr. Albers.  Dr. Crandall joined Dr. Albers’ team in May of 2010.  She has found it very rewarding to have a professional team around her where education is encouraged, new materials are studied, equipment is constantly updated and cases and responsibilities are shared and supported.

In her free time, Dr. Crandall enjoys water color painting, golf, dressage, gym time, running and connecting Sonoma County artists with people and spaces that need art.

Jay Uemura, DDS. - Periodontal Specialist

Junju Uemura, DDS – or Dr. Jay, as his patients and staff affectionately refer to him, received his BS degree in Biochemistry at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo and worked as an analytical chemist for six years before realizing that dentistry was his true calling.  He found that periodontics allowed him to combine his love of science with his surgical talent and his natural enjoyment of people.

Dr. Jay earned his dental degree at New York University and completed his specialized periodontal training at University of California San Francisco.  Dedicated to providing state-of-the- art periodontal services in a caring and comfortable manner, Dr. Jay has extensive training in dental alveolar surgery, dental implants, and conscious sedation. He has been awarded Board Certification by the American Academy of Periodontology.

Dr. Jay and his wife fell in love with Sonoma Country while visiting the area on a camping trip up the coast and settled here in 2002.

He attended the University of California San Diego for undergrad followed by dental school at the University of Pacific where he graduated with high honors and was inducted into the OKU honor society which is reserved for the top 12 % of the class. Upon graduation Dr. Morton went across country to receive his specialty training and master’s degree in Endodontics at the University of Florida.

Dr. Morton has a passion for teaching and is currently a clinical faculty member at the University of the Pacific in the endodontic department. He has received numerous awards for leadership, ethics and professionalism from his dental colleagues and takes pride in always putting the patient’s needs first.
