Botox is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment that can temporarily reduce the moderate-to-severe frown lines for up to four months. It takes 2-10 days to see the results. You can receive Botox injections every three to four months to maintain the effects.

Botox is injected directly into the muscles causing the wrinkles. It works by blocking the transmission of nerve impulses to the injected muscles; this reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those lines to form. The treatment is usually done in about 10 minutes. There is no recovery time.
Botox® usually lasts 3-6 months after the initial treatment. Treating jaw pain from grinding and clenching can have lasting positive effects and benefits for longer periods of time. It does this by interrupting the muscles’ memory. Grinding can result in worn and broken teeth. Botox® treatment, on rare occasions, can result in bruising the first few days after therapy. Dr. Albers will discuss benefits and risks at your consultation.
